Italia Santillan

Architecture Intern

Working with Akiya 2.0 expanded my skills in 3D modeling, site analysis, and client communication. Being situated in Hiroshima gave me a deeper understanding of traditional Japanese architecture, particularly the unique features of Kominka houses. It strengthened my critical thinking by requiring me to consider existing site conditions and the challenge of adapting traditional structures for contemporary use, and left me with a greater appreciation for historical preservation within the cultural context of architecture in Japan.

Interning at Akiya 2.0 has been invaluable, both professionally and in exploring Japan's beautiful Kominka and Akiya properties. My role involved market research, supporting property acquisition, and engaging with both Japanese and International clients. Through these responsibilities, I have developed a stronger understanding of Japan's real estate sector whilst developing skills in cross cultural communication, client relations, and business development.
